FAQs Microneedling
-
Microneedling (also known as collagen induction therapy) is a minimally invasive treatment that uses ultra-fine, medical-grade needles to create controlled micro-channels in the skin. This triggers your body’s natural healing response, instantly stimulating the production of collagen and elastin. For mature skin, this process helps restore the skin's natural thickness, elasticity, and firmness from the inside out.
-
Most clients describe the sensation as a light scratchy or prickling feeling.
-
While you will notice a beautiful "glow" within a week or two as your skin heals, structural changes take time. For age-management, skin tightening, and evening out pigmentation, we generally recommend a course of 3 to 6 treatments, spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart. Collagen production peaks around 3 months after your final session.
-
Downtime is very minimal. Immediately after the treatment, your face will look flushed and feel tight, similar to a mild sunburn. This redness typically fades significantly within 24 hours. You may experience light skin peeling or flaking between days 3 and 5 as old skin cells shed, which is a perfectly normal part of the rejuvenation process.

We request that you keep your skin completely bare for the first 24 hours to allow the micro-channels to close safely and prevent irritation. After 24 hours, you can gently apply a clean mineral makeup if desired, but if possible, leave wearing make-up for 48 hours.
Preparing for Your Microneedling Treatment:
Pre-Care Guide
To ensure your skin is in optimal condition and to maximize your anti-aging results, please follow these pre-treatment guidelines.
7 Days Before Treatment
• Stop using retinoids (Retinol, Retin-A), alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs like glycolic or lactic acid), beta hydroxy acids (BHAs like salicylic acid), and strong Vitamin C serums.
• Avoid sun exposure: Do not sunbathe, use sunbeds, or apply false tan to the treatment area.
• Skip harsh treatments: Avoid facial waxing, chemical peels, laser treatments, or deep exfoliations.
48 Hours Before Treatment
• Hydrate your skin: Drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your session to support your skin's healing capabilities.
• Avoid alcohol: Refrain from drinking alcohol for 48 hours prior, as it can dehydrate the skin and increase the risk of bruising.
• Cosmetic injectables: Ensure at least 14 days have passed if you have recently had Botox or dermal fillers.
On the Day of Treatment
• Arrive with a clean face: Please arrive at your appointment with a fresh face completely free of makeup, heavy creams, perfumes, or sunscreens.
• A quick tip: We recommend washing your hair either the night before or the morning of your treatment, as you will need to avoid getting your face wet or sweating immediately afterward.
Post-Treatment Aftercare Guide
Immediately following microneedling, your skin will look flushed and feel tight—very similar to a mild sunburn. This is a completely normal sign that your skin's natural collagen production has been triggered.
Please follow this timeline to support your skin barrier as it regenerates.
The First 24 Hours (The Protection Phase)
• Keep it bare: Do not apply any makeup, standard sunscreens, or your regular skincare products. ONLY use the hyaluronic acid provided by your practitioner for the first 24-48 hours.
• Do not touch: Avoid touching your face with unwashed hands to eliminate the risk of introducing bacteria to the micro-channels.
• Stay cool: Avoid hot showers, baths, steam rooms, saunas, swimming pools, heat from ovens or hob cooking, and no hairdryers.
• Skip the gym: Avoid heavy workouts or any activity that causes sweating, as sweat can cause severe irritation.
• Pillowcase prep: Sleep on a fresh, clean silk or cotton pillowcase on the night of your treatment.
• Change your towels and bedding.
Days 2 – 3 (The Hydration Phase)
• Gentle cleansing: Wash your face using only lukewarm water and a very mild, fragrance-free cleanser. Pat dry gently with a clean towel.
• Hydrate often: Your skin may feel dry or tight. Apply a pure hyaluronic acid serum or the soothing aftercare balm provided by your practitioner 3–4 times a day.
• Mineral SPF only: Protect your skin with a broad-spectrum mineral SPF 30 or higher every single day, even if it is cloudy. DO NOT use chemical SPF.
Days 4 – 7 (The Healing Phase)
• Expect mild flaking: As mature skin cells renew, you may experience light peeling or flaking. Do not pick, scratch, or scrub the skin, as this can cause hyperpigmentation. Let it shed naturally.
• Gradually reintroduce skincare: You can return to your standard routine once all redness has faded. Wait a full 7 days before restarting your Retinol, AHAs, or exfoliating acids.
You are now ready to resume your skincare routine, including masks and exfoliating scrubs.
